A practice of meeting that refuses the meeting. We come together to rest beside one another, to share food and silence, to listen to what the land has been saying.

We sat for three days. Mostly we did not speak. The mine hummed below the ridge; we listened to it the way one listens to weather. A woman from the village brought bread wrapped in a cloth her grandmother embroidered with pomegranates.

We mapped what the river remembered. Hands in silt. A child taught us a song. We left tobacco and walked out backwards, the way one leaves a room where someone is sleeping.

We swept slowly. We did not finish. We agreed that finishing was not the point. Someone hung a hammock between two desks and slept while we cooked.
