Privacy & cookies
Rest Commons treats personal data the way it treats stories: with consent, slowness, and care. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and what we do not.
in short
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers.
- We set no tracking cookies. One piece of local storage remembers that you have seen our cookie notice — that is all.
- The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address. See "third parties" below.
- Contributions to the archive are only published with explicit consent. You may withdraw at any time.
who we are
Rest Commons is a long-form art–research initiative held by Ars Techne, based in Yerevan, Armenia. The data controller for this website is Ars Techne. You can reach us at info [at] arstechne.net.
cookies & local storage
We do not place any cookies on your device. We use a single browser localStorage entry (rc-cookie-consent-v1) to remember that you have dismissed the cookie notice, and a few small entries to remember your atmosphere preferences (day/night, rest mode, sound). These never leave your browser and are not shared with anyone.
You can clear them at any time through your browser's site-data settings.
what we collect
Browsing the site: nothing personally identifiable. We do not run server-side analytics. Standard web-server logs at our hosting provider may briefly retain IP addresses for security purposes; we do not access them for any other purpose.
Writing to us or contributing: only what you choose to send — typically your name (or a pseudonym), an email address, and the material you wish to share. We use this solely to coordinate the contribution and, with your consent, to attribute it.
third parties
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Ltd.). Google may log the IP address of the browser making the request. See Google's privacy policy. If you would prefer not to load remote fonts, you can block them with browser extensions; the site will fall back to system fonts.
The site is hosted on infrastructure provided by Lovable / Cloudflare. They process technical request data on our behalf as a sub-processor.
your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, and object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because we hold very little data, most requests can be answered the same week. Write to info [at] arstechne.net. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
contributor consent
Material in the archive is published only with the explicit consent of the contributor. Visibility is layered: some contributions are public, some are accessible only on request, some remain in a closed archive. Anyone can ask, at any time, to review, edit, restrict, or withdraw their contribution.
licence
Original site content is shared under a Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–ShareAlike 4.0 International licence. Individual contributions remain the property of their contributors and may carry stricter conditions.
